Youd hope Katie could get a win here? Jodie feels a challenge . How do the draws unfold after that?

Be very surprised if Jodie came through to play Sabalenka but hopefully she can raise herself for the occasion. Great achievement to make the main draw by right.

Hopefully Katie can get through this one...

Katie would next play the winner of Peyton Stearns 58 and Viktoriya Tomova 104. Jodie would next play the winner of Caroline Dolhide 106 and Clara Burel 62.

Not quite Peter. Katie would play Garcia, Jodie would play Sabalenka.

I was using the WTA site for rounds 128 and 64 and they are showing it as I said.

Oh! I can see what happened, the WTA site does not line up the round 64 with the matches in round 128. I was fooled by a lines apparently connecting two matches in round 128 to a match in round 64. Why oh why can't the WTA sort its site out, ITF can do why is it so hard for WTA?

The WTA website is horrible at the best of times but has surpassed itself with the US Open draw. It lists the first round as round of 98 (rather than 128) with only 49 (rather than 64) first round matches included. Am not sure how technically this is possible.

The WTA site omits the matches with yet to be placed qualifiers, which is why it's got misaligned.

It's about as possible as Katie Swan playing Roland Garros in 1999 when she was 2 months old and losing to a yet to be born Clara Tauson, which is what the WTA have on Katie's match history

Edit. Even better. They have Katie losing to Harriet in 1991. no

Yes, the WTA site is really bad for most things at the moment. I will be sticking to the official USO website as far as possible

Current ranking 1039. Yep I would say so!

Betova (nee Gasparyan) isn't exactly a walking bye, but is on a 15 match losing streak and has only won 2 sets in 2023. After an injury filled career, she took time out from tennis to give birth to her first child in December 2021 and came back on a protected ranking at the start of the year.

Odd how Lily comes through qualifying and gets a kinder draw than Katie or Jodie.

Yes, the 'luck of the draw' - it's one of the things I rather like about tennis - its randomness and how it all works out

After all, in the Premier League for football, you just play everyone - twice. Simples. And it really doesn'matter if you play Man City in week 1 or week 10.

But a knock-out draw is great (or two in this case) - so many possible hiccups - go Lily !
