Weeks 35 & 36 - US Open - Flushing Meadows, New York City (hard) - DOUBLES

They showed some signs in the pre US Open events but it is quite a remarkable turn around. And they looked really good and sharp. Certainly deserved todays win.

What an extraordinarily unexpected upturn in form. And now bidding to become the first ever pair to win the US Open men's doubles three years in a row. Which would see them move into them into the Top 8 in the race too

And Bopanna breaking records too by becoming the oldest ever Grand Slam finalist 13 years after reaching his only final. Was expecting Ram to retire this year - maybe he still will - but a spring chicken in comparison at 39.

I thought Ram had announced he was retiring at the end of the season or did I just imagine it?

I think we all speculated on it due to their bad form, a lot of folks suggested the end was nigh, I personally thought it would be season end. But no announcement - suspect we could all look foolish !

Ram and Salisbury lose the first set 6-2 in double quick time. Hopefully not a repeat of the Toronto final.

Yeah saw that. To call 0-30 on yourself at that moment. Very classy.

Ebden hit winner but Bopanna said it had brushed his arm on the way over net. No one had noticed. Incredible stuff.

Thanks. Reminds me of when Jonny Marray+ won Wimbledon. I can't exactly recall the details but I think someone touched the net and called it themselves.

Very sporting.

Quite extraordinary to win three in a row and its a testament to their togetherness that they have done this after a scratchy year.
