Taylor Fritz not in the match in set one, body language despondent shoulders slumped no rhythm in serve. 6-1

In set two Novak breaks early and that's enough. Commentary pointing out that N is not looking his best either, seems a little listless in the heat, 5 double faults in the first set and a half. Fritz raises his game a level in this set, if he could raise it another notch it could become interesting. 6-4

QF Djokovich beats Fritz 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

Shelton beats Tiafoe 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2.

The two Russians going at it as I write, Medvedev one set and one break to the good but it's entertaining tennis. Worth a watch.

Breaks all over the place. Rublev broke twice and Medvedev has broken again so back on serve.

Medvedev 6-4 *2-3

Rublev is in his 9th Slam QF but he has still to reach a SF. He has been in the QF in all 4 Slams and this is his 4th time in the US Open QF.

Glad someone else is watching this stuff, indiana, it's a good match up.

Commentary making so much of the heat and the closed roof, but it's true that players have looked frazzled throughout the competition.

Medvedev takes second set.

That was a wonderful match, the scoreline doesn't do Rublev justice, but Medvedev always had the edge, he won the points that mattered.

The commentary (especially Patrick MacEnroe) are talking about heat and humidity and how we have the technology to defeat those conditions these days. Medvedev says something to a courtside camera something about a player having to die before anything changes.

Global warming catches up with tennis.

Why was the Alcaraz v Zverev match not available to watch on Sky sports?

I don't know, Rich. I didn't try to watch that one with it being on after midnight, but Alcaraz won it comprehensively 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

So the semi finals are Shelton V Djokovich & Alcaraz V Medvedev to be played on Friday.

It makes no sense as I have stayed awake after midnight and watched some other matches until 2 or 3am before going to sleep. It was just after 9pm New York time when it started. No explanation given as to why we couldn't view it. Sky need to seriously do better as some days it has been impossible to watch some of the matches on other non show courts because the picture kept jumping about. I know this was not just me as well. But as for last night and no explanation given it just doesn't sit well with me.

I don't understand your complaint. It was shown both on Sky Tennis and Sky Main Event.

Oh dear I take it all back what I said. I have been watching the tennis on Sky 561 upwards.

Never entered my head about Sky Main Event.

So after all that I could have watched it. What a silly old fool I am.

Don't be down on yourself Rich it can be confusing how Sky switch channels. In the first round we got to watch Andy Murray on the basic subscription that we have at home but had to pay extra to watch Cam's match. Sky just want your money... It was far more consistent when Amazon Prime had the rights when Emma won it.

Ben Shelton started like he really fancied this - you could see the belief was there - but he's just lost the first set 6-3.
