Boys & Girls: J300 Pancevo, Serbia, clay (Week 34)

There are a couple of J300 events this week.  Some of our US Open bound contingent are taking part in a warm up event over there, but Europe is staging some events on clay providing good opportunities for those just below the US Open cut-off.  Viktor Frdydrych takes on the winner of the recent Durban J300 while Gabia Paskauskas takes on one of the top under 14s, a finalist in the European Championships

Zoran Ludoski (SRB) v Benjamin Gusic Wan

Girls R1 (L32)

Hannah Read v Yelyzaveta Kotliar (UKR)

Gabia Paskauskas  v (WC) Dusica Popovski (SRB)

Just Hannah making it through to the quarters. Gabia came very close but Viktor was disappointingly uncompetitive against a French lad whose record isn't noticeably better then his. Hannah has a tough quarter-final against the top seed who cruised past Mimi recently

Boys R2

Thomas Faurel (FRA) d. Viktor Frydrych 6-1 6-3
(Q) Ivan Ivanov (BUL) d. Benjamin Gusic Wan 6-0 6-4

Girls R2

Hannah Read d. Maayan Laron (ISR) 6-3 6-4
Anna Linn Puls (GER) d. Gabia Paskauskas 7-6(6) 0-6 7-5

QF

Two match tiebreaks and Viktor claims his first J300 title, which should be enough to crack the top 100 for the first time smile

F

(3) Brunclik/Frydrych (CZE/GBR) d. Derepasko/Engel (***/GER) 7-5 4-6 [10-6]
