Tennis on Sky Sports

Well I love tennis but I don't need it. So on a small budget I will reluctantly have to say say goodbye to it.
£61 is a big amount of money to me, a weeks food shop, my choice so goodbye US Open.

I may go for now tv but I do wonder how many courts they will show. I dont madly want to form out so much money for sky as I dont really see myself watching a lot of tv apart from the stuff I already get on freeview and tennis!

Now TV will have 2 courts at most. They don't have the facility to show all courts I believe.

I think you will be able to watch additional courts if you have the right devices. help.nowtv.com/article/now-features

Sky Sports, where sport goes to die. With the exception of Football, I don't think taking the money from Sky has ended well for any sport.

Not done Darts or Golf any harm, if Darts counts.

Cant comment on English Tory sports like Cricket and Rugby as we dont watch them in Scotland

This is one of the reasons I use Bet365, and/or enjoy challenger tennis, junior tennis, whatever

I won't pay large amounts for annual tennis subscriptions

Every year till now, in France, Eurosport, for a month, for the US Open, has been about £8. Which I'll happily pay.

But if it's £61 for the two weeks, no, I wouldn't

(Of course, it's that part of your overall internet/TV package and that the whole whammy, no extras, and you use it a lot, and you'd be miserable without it, then that may well be a good deal, and it'll take priority over all other discretionaries or something will have to give to make way)

Just signed up for the 10 euro one-month Eurosport package in France

So if someon has a VPN in the UK, that would presumably work for them too?

It claims you get all the quali matches too.....

Interesting thoughts and ways to think of accessing more tennis, thanks all.

Sadly I'm on a cheap broadband contract for a while yet, so couldn't swap to Sky and amortise the costs.

Bet 365 well I haven't thought of that, I used it way back but was cancelled because I didn't place any bets, I shall revisit !

I'm living on a state pension so don't have a lot of wriggle room financially, but yup I need to look at ways around the dilemma.

Take care all and enjoy the US Open !

Currently screening pickle ball on Amazon Prime. might have to switch to watching this when tennis goes to Sky. No idea of the rules and the court is a little small, but on the plus side no Castle or Rusedski commentary wink

Its getting quite big in the states is pickleball. Its in the vein of padel and the like, fun but hard to see as a serious pro sport , at least Im not convinced - and I play a bit of padel at weekends

Confirmation today of the worst kept secret in tennis broadcasting.

I may be misunderstanding Sky's announcement, but the way I read it, on the ATP side, they are only to show ATP Masters and the year end finals? Why would they mention all levels of WTA Tour and only ATP Masters otherwise?

Partnership includes the Nitto ATP Finals and WTA Finals, all ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 events, 500s and 250 events (excluding domestic events) and the Next Gen ATP Finals presented by Neom.

Tennis on Telly suggest that Sky will be showing everything that Prime has been covering this year. Here is an extract from Lee's webpage:-

Will Sky Sports be showing all ATP and WTA events at all levels?

Sky Sports' coverage of the ATP and WTA tours includes all 250, 500 and 1000-level events on both tours, which is more than 80 tournaments. The rights exclude domestic tournaments, so don't include the British grass court events before Wimbledon.

Will Sky Sports have all-court coverage of their tournaments?

It's expected that Sky Sports will have all-court coverage of all tournaments, either on its linear channels or streaming services. On Now TV, bonus channel coverage may be platform dependant as it was with the US Open 2023. All-court coverage is dependant on the coverage being made available by the tour; in the past only show court singles at ATP 250 events have been made available to broadcasters and there is no indication that this will change.

Not having all-court coverage would be a significant step back from Prime Video's coverage and it would be disappointing if the tours had agreed a broadcast deal with less coverage.
