According to her match history Jodie lost to Sebov in the WTA 1000 Lipton Championships in March 1995 and reached Q3 of the Australian Open in 2020 and lost to Lily in the W25 Glasgow in 2009. Emma won the US Open in 2019 and lost to Harriet in the first round of the Nottingham 250 this year and got to the QF of the W100 in Landisville a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah they are sort of like a half way house between ITF and Main Tour, and the same really as an ATP Challenger 125. But the WTA doesn't consider itself to have a 'Challenger Tour' in the way the ATP does, it's just it's lowest category of event.
I'm sometimes inclined to treat them as WTA Titles as they are sort of similar to what the old Tier V (and arguably Tier IV) Events were before the Tour restructure in 2008 when any surviving Tier III, IV and V events were merged into the 'International' category.

Thanks - Ive always been aware of them but never really delved into them and who plays as I dont really follow the WTA. How would the typical entry of a WTA 125 compare to an ITF100 and , say, an event like Ilkley- I tended to see those as the top challengers equivalent in my head but only because I go to watch Ilkley , where the mens event alongside it is a mens atp challenger? presumably an ITF 100 and WTA 125 have similar entry standards?
There are good ranking points available for winning a WTA 125 event. i.e. 160. A player can rise up the rankings with wins in these tournaments. For example Arantxa Rus has reached her highest career ranking at the age of 33 with wins at this level. Then has gained direct entry to the Grand Slams.

Ok cool - doesnt the ranking points align at this level ie 125 ish for a 125? 100 for an itf 100? I know at the higher levels its not quite aligned like the mens is , eg 470 at a 500 event, but presumed it was close enough to justify the title (otherwise why not a a WTA 160?!
Sorry I should know this stuff - but tend to jump into the WTA threads and then jump quickly out without taking much in! Apologies if this is an old discussion. And well done again to our girls who are in or around their career best rankings
These were originally called the 125k series as the prize fund was $125k. The prize fund is now $115k, but are called 125 to align with ATP 125 challenger branding.

Jon if you look on Wikipedia and the 2020 WTA media guide the points awarded for winning a WTA $125k series tournament is 160 with 95 for the runner up. $15,000 is the winners prize.
It does remain so silly, though I need to get less annoyed by it, that the WTA rebranded some time ago now to WTA 250s, 500s and 1000s, in line with the ATP events ( that actually do award 250. 500 and 1000 points ) and have still done nothing regarding making comparatively minor changes needed to at least the winners' ranking points awards.
