If it's an injury, and the match against Jones in Lexington would suggest so, then it's awful luck.

I did spot that she seems back in the uk from instagram last week. Seemed a bit strange if she was planning on playing the US OPEN.

By my maths, Jodie has beaten 8 top 100 players this year alone! Yes, she's patchy but that's a pretty good showing for someone of her ranking. And they aren't all only on grass (although a majority are).

Looking at her matches history in the WTA website, I make it 8 wins and 4 losses against top 100 players this year before her now 2 wins this week.

So now 10/4 overall. 6/3 on grass, 4/0 on hard, 0/1 on clay.

She will now be back into the top 100 herself on Monday. Currently live ranked 96.

I decided to go on and look at Jodie's record against players ranked 101 to 200. That is 6/11 overall. 1/2 on grass, 3/8 on hard, 2/1 on clay.

So overall 16/15 against top 200 players.7/5 on grass, 7/8 on hard, 2/2 on clay. So she wins about as much as she loses against top 200 players, just a bit odd top 100 vs 101 to 200 split.

Although to be fair she has only lost one match this year to a player outside the top 200, that being to Lily, then WR 209, at Surbiton. She is overall 9/1 against players ranked outside the top 200, giving her a total 25/16 W/L record this year.

Only one seed left in the QF ( and 3 out of the 4 qualifiers ). That's (2) Rakhimova in the bottom half ( Jodie is in the top half ). Top 100 players are getting out of there before they have to face Jodie

Great result Jodie!!! Another 3 set win and another top 100 win. After reading Indianas post Im more worried that her next opponent is ranked 191.

Well done Jodie, looks like she hung in tough in the second and took her opportunity. Great job.
