I dont see her playing on the doubles tour. Its just not the same and despite Heather being capable of doing really well there I think she will feel the same.
She seemed pretty happy winning in Warsaw, it might be the only way to stay on the WTA Tour if her singles form continues to decline.
Heather had 111 points coming off June-August and has already scored 243. Most players would be happy with a decline like that. Also very few off this year after August so effectively a "free hit".
Agreed. After all these years you'd think we'd be used to Heather being patchy. She just is. I'm sure she will stop when she wants, but I don't think losing to a former junior number 2 who's finally starting to make it in seniors is going to be the trigger.
A month ago people were saying Dan Evans was going nowhere but down, that he was close to quitting, or should quit.... and then he went and won an ATP500
Obviously Heather will quit at some time but she's always struck me as someone who really enjoys tennis and the life of tennis. Unlike others, I could see her possibly doing mainly doubles at some point.
I cannot see her being a pro coach ever (for several reasons). Commentating would obviously be an option but probably just grass court UK swing say.
But I think and hope Heather will be around in singles pro tennis for several more years - I'm sure there are some real good times still out there to come
These are the kind of players that Jodie needs to be beating to solidify her top 100 place.
Think Jodie has been a little unlucky with the draw. The 8th seed is currently rated world 95 yet shes managed to play 2 players in the top 100 in the first 2 rounds!!
The WTA website is still not showing scores from yesterday, the order of play or the draws for any tournaments. I hope the person responsible for maintaining it gets in to work soon !
By my maths, Jodie has beaten 8 top 100 players this year alone! Yes, she's patchy but that's a pretty good showing for someone of her ranking. And they aren't all only on grass (although a majority are).
I hope Jodie's next opponent is correct, I found it impossible to get any information from the WTA site today so I got it from another source.
Day just played against Zhao so it isn't correct
Nope, that was yesterday.
if your looking at the results section on the official app, I think if a match finishes after midnight it just gets put in the results section for the following day (the whole app is a bit crap to be honest).

I did check to see what round it was and it said 1/16 which is 2nd round right? Ok I found the draw from there and apparently in their world 1/16 means 1st round!?

It's worth noting this is the first ever combined 125 level with equal prize money, so the women get much more than they would normally get for a 125. $315 (25%) more for R1 losers up to $6,650 (44%) more for the winner.
