Very interesting match-up between our two up and coming all British pairs. May the best pair win. I think that will be Naiktha & Maia.

and you were correct. They won 7-6(9) 6-4

Good effort from our GB #7 & #8 to make it so close, but #3 and #4 come out on top.

Why on earth was their match being played indoors?! All other matches are outdoors and another doubles has recently started, also outside. Its still 18 degrees and light outside, and the courts are floodlit. Very odd.

Magali has lost her last 9 singles matches, and you can see she has absolutely zero confidence in any part of her game. The double fault at *3-4 deuce was coming a mile away and was a real shame as they were starting to work there way into the match. Lechemia continuing her good form from last week, played very well.

One telling statistic - 1 out of 11 break points converted, against 4/5 for their opponents.

Current projected ranking points at 28/08, with Naiktha and Maia's points so far here and allowing for the 280 ( net 230 ) points that Lissey & Olivia are due to drop on 28/08 ( Granby WTA 250 title last year ) :

Naiktha  926
Maia  921
Alicia  900
Olivia  887

I do enjoy a bit of a battle over ranking spots!

have the two pairs played each other at all? Someone will no doubt tell me it was just two weeks ago but my mind has moved on!

Apparently not in the last few years anyway. Until pretty recently Naiktha & Maia were still playing ITFs while Lissey & Olivia were largely playing on the WTA tour.

I'm pretty sure they haven't played - Naiktha and Maia are a fairly new partnership anyway. I had a look through Lissey's doubles activity to check. She has certainly played with and against Maia over the years (and in singles), but I don't think she has ever played against Naiktha.
