Good chance for Katie then to solidify her ranking.
Despite not many top 100 wins this year Katie has had plenty in the past including top 10 wins so Im not too bothered.
Exactly. Qualifying for a WTA 1000 is not to be sneezed at. Nice to see Katie building her ranking and she's beaten top 100 players in the past and I'm sure she's capable of it now.
R2: BOULTER, Katie (GBR) Q 72 =CH v GAUFF, Coco (USA) (6) 7 (CH=4 2022)
They met in the Melbourne 500 Gippsland Trophy in 2021 with Katie winning in three
Well done Katie! A really convincing win against a player who's only just dropped out of the top 100 in recent weeks.
Next up is probably a big step too far but a decent showing against Gauff would be impressive at this stage. Just goes to show what she can achieve if she can just play consistently without injury.
Great to see her take advantage of an injury free run and a kind draw after running into Leylah in qualifying last week. Coco is playing much better than when they last met but when Katie's serve is in full flow is she can beat anybody.
Katie is also up to 58 in the live rankings with not too many players that can catch her this week. Incredible
Super 90 ranking points so far for qualifying and reaching the L32. With the good old WTA ranking points system just a further 45 points if she could reach the L16.
