Once they saw that Anthony Law was a direct acceptance here (I think it was through withdrawals, not a WC, but we'll know if they ever publish the main draw), a whole heap of low-ranked Brits who hadn't entered seem to have made a beeline for qualifying here on the assumption that there are relatively easy points to be had in this ridiculously weak 15K! Future - good for them!
(q1) Alex Miotto WR 1312 only had to play an unranked Syrian to make it to the main draw - double bagel!
(q3) Edward Seator WR 1511 won his first match 0 & 1 then played an unranked Kuwaiti in QR2 - double bagel!
Edward Allinson UNR had the best result in QR1, defeating the no. 4 qualifying seed by 4 & 2 ... but then lost to an unranked Kuwaiti.
Luke Campbell UNR upset fellow Brit (q6) Dan Cottier WR 1511 in QR2 after they had both won in QR1.
If there are 8 qualifiers in the main draw as there usually are in a Future, that means that Alex, Edward S and Luke are all through.
Just think, with seedings based on last week's rankings, Adam L could have gone here, been seeded, perhaps got drawn in QR1 against one of the players who lost to one of the players who got double bagelled by Alex or Edward in QR2 and maybe won a game, or even a match!

Congrats to all the Brits for qualifying and also for picking such a weak 15K future !!
I'm very pleased that Ed Seator got through. He's one of Alex's friends at Sutton and during the 2 month trip to Aus and NZ he showed some promise in qualifying a couple of times and nearly won his 2nd ranking point.
Luke Campbell is 20 and from London. He says he's a grass-court specialist and he's coached by Gavin Hooper. He's never won a main draw match and this is the 2nd time he's qualified for a main draw.
Adam L really missed a massive opportunity here. I guess that he didn't want to ruin his chances of breaking the world record for most consecutive losses which he's fast approaching.
R1: (Q) Alex Miotto WR 1312 beat (LL) Dan Cottier WR 1511 by 3 & 2 R1: (Q) Edward Seator WR 1511 beat (Q) Abdullah Qaseem (KUW) UNR R1: (3) Lee Childs WR 514 beat David Jeflea (AUS) WR 1511 by 3-6 7-5 6-0 R1: (Q) Luke Campbell UNR lost to (6) Ralph Grambow (GER) by 4-6 6-2 6-2
R2: (Q) Alex Miotto WR 1312 v (1) Mohammed Al Ghareeb (KUW) WR 401 R2: (Q) Edward Seator WR 1511 lost to (7) Marco Chiudinelli (SUI) WR 795 by 4 & 2 R2: (3) Lee Childs WR 514 lost to Claudio Grassi (ITA) WR 1312 by 6-4 0-6 6-4
Well done to Alex and Edward for getting another ranking point each, but Lee Childs must be kicking himself from here to next week for losing to an opponent ranked nearly 800 places below him in what was probably his best chance of racking up lots of points for ages. What a shocker! :(
I think there's another Kuwait 15K next week though.

Really, really disappointing results here last week considering how weak the 15K field was.
Lee Childs missed a really, really big chance here to gain some big points, I wonder what happened in his rd2 loss - the scoreline is really bizarre. Grassi then got thrashed 0 and 3 in the quarters.
Just to complete the results: Alex Miotto lost 6-4, 6-1 in rd2 to the top seed. Congratulations to him and Ed Seator for securing their first ranking points for a while.
Lee Childs and Chiudinelli lost in the doubles semis.
