Social Cricket

Anyone play social / local league Cricket ?

Played in my local teams first league fixture of the year yesterday......hence to say i can barely walk today......we batted first and went from 70-2 to 118 all out in 38 overs !!! (Batted 8 and was left stranded on 14 no).

Bowled the opposition out for 89 !!!!!...they had to 52 overs to get 119 runs....and we got them out.....3-26-10 from me hence the reason I cant walk.....not fit enough to bowl 10 overs on the bounce !!!

Congratulations on your win Drew, sounds like a great bowling performance from your team and especially from you in taking 3 wickets.

I used to play league cricket but not any more, was never much good at it, tennis and badminton are more my sports for playing but I'm still an avid cricket fan.

Yup, play for my local side in the West Somerset league. Lost our first 3 games so far so we're struggling. From a personal point of view I took 2 for 21 of 7 overs and made 38 with the bat on Saturday so I'm my own form's not too bad.

Looks like they need a few more performing like you !!!!

We have an ex-Leicestershire 2XI player who is playing for us this year....he took 3/14 off 10 and is very rapid !!!!

Pair of whites and a faint heartbeat means automatic selection to our team

There's light at the end of the the tunnel - we won today

Batted first, slumped to 62-9 at one point, but struggled to 88 a.o on what was a difficult wicket.

Then bowled them out for 50.  We fielded really well and all the catches started sticking.  Had a very satisfying 4/8 off 6 so feeling very mellow right now, a few shandies were sunk after the game

I play a bit when I'm not injured (so thats means i havent played for almost a year.)
I'm not particularly good, can bat but I'm no Sachin Tendulkar! My only saving grace is that im the damn best fielder in the team, modest too :P (only cos i'll run and run and run and run and run.....and run!!) and unlike Monty Python, i mean Panesar, i can catch the bloody ball

We lost last week to a very strong team who played 2 scottish national league players and  some more premier league players...we are in Div 2 so are meant to play their 2XI but it never happens..........we were all out for 168 in 41 ovs...made 1....they got 169 in 40 overs for 7 wickets...i took 2/36 in 10 ovs.....so i am 5 for 62 for the season...could be worse

We're still on a roll - only made 106 of our 40 overs, but bowled them out for 70, and helped myself to 3-11 off 11 overs. (having had an ignominious duck batting).

Away to the league leaders in a couple of weels time, - that's when the wheels will come off again ..
