After 2 weeks of a satellite, the entries and seedings for qualifying and the main draw are determined by how many points the players have earnt in the preceding 2 weeks.
Myles Blake has to go through qualifying to try and reach the week 3 main draw. He's top seed, there are 2 rounds of qualifying and he got a bye in rd1.
Qualifying round: M Blake [GB][1] v A Stoynev [Bul]
Myles should win this one, his opponent is unranked and lost in rd1 of qualifying in week 1 and week 2. Myles needs to win a round at least in the main draw to take part in the masters next week.
Myles won 62 61 in qualifying but has drawn the 5th seed Yannick Mertens in round one.
If he can pull off an upset in that one its another qualifier or a wc waiting in round 2.
Mertens is an 18 year old Belgian who has mainly played in futures qualies and failed to make main draws so could be beatable.
Dave Sherwood beat him 64 64 in Belgium last year but he's already one 10 matches in Bulgaria this month in qualy draws and main satellite draws so is on pretty good form. He reached a combined high of 71 at junior level at the end of last year, which Myles can better with his highest ever junior ranking of 35 a year earlier.
I hope that Myles isn't too badly injured. Such a shame as if he'd won he would have played a wildcard in rd2.
As Johnny says, he's had a pretty rough time with the draws in Bulgaria. Myles seems to have found the transition from juniors to seniors a little tough. After he reached the Wimbledon juniors quarter-final last summer, I thought he'd be one to watch out for on the senior circuit but like Kasiri he's struggled to convert his undoubted natural talent into ranking points so far.
