Pity. Still Marni has a big jump in rankings on the way with Roehampton also being added in the next run. Live rankings is showing WR382 (+48), but OER has the wrong points for today's result.

OER looks fine now for Marni. 4 points for reaching the FQR here and 151 points in total.

Good, I prefer their layout. They were showing 12 points rather than 4 when I looked earlier.

Beth battled well in the final set, recovered from a break down, and broke again for *6-5. Lost her serve to love, and then lost the last two points in the tie-break.  cry

Beth gets a lucky loser spot and will play Kawa.

Harriet gets a horror of a banana skin - world junior number 1 Korneeva. On current form I'm not particularly hopeful...

Oh dear. Just looked up Korneeva's record. Won AO juniors beating Mirra Andreeva in the final, won RG juniors and reached the SF at Wimbledon Juniors.
Beat Urszula Radwanska easilt last week and lost to kristina Mladenovic 7-5in the third.

Harriet is going to have to play well today.

Harriet missed a point for 5-3*, and lost the first set 7-5.

The youngster looks the better player to be honest.

Harriet was actually a break up twce, but lost them all again. She's going to have to play well to turn this around. Only one ace from her so far - needs to serve better !

She's the better returner of the two but her serve is particularly ineffective in this wind. The Russian always looks the more likely to squeeze out a hold.

2-2* (having just been broken)

4-4*

The only difference between them really is that Korneeva is getting around 10% more first serves in. The stats behind first and second are basically equal.

Misses two individual break points. Sort of falls into the forehand on the first and nets, second saved with a big serve.

Given how she's been broken at will, that feels a little terminal to her chances.

*4-5

Naturally she held to love biggrin

And a nice game there to break to 15, helped by a couple of poor errors from Korneeva.

*6-5

Well done Harriet. Hung in and was ready when Korneeva's level dropped a bit.

5-7 7-5 0-0*

Wind kicking up.
