Gotta say, this is disappointing. She served for the match at *5-3 and then had a MP on Hatouka's serve at 5-4*, but has rather frittered it away. Too passive in the big moments, and then fell away at the end of the set.
Yeah she got tight as heck. All on her that, very disappointing. I think she could have done a little better on the two match points. Has broken though.
*2-0
Jodie can't keep her advantage. Most of the points I've seen she's been hitting errors.
*4-5

Quite a nervy performance at key times for Heather, but great to back up the Siniakova win. Good chance in the quarters, and will be the slight underdog which I hope will help her.
Not as lovely a performance as the Siniakova win, but she was the better player and deserved the win. The drop in level in the second set was disappointing, but overall she did a good job against a pedestrian opponent.
Haven't been watching Jodie but it looks like she's about to go out with a whimper rather than a bang.
Jodie was miles off the pace. Her opponent started slow and once she warmed up had no answer. Some nice points at the very end but it was never going to be turned round. That one at 15-30* in the final game she needs to remember as a lesson for hitting big but with percentage and being patient. It was super from her.
Loses 6-4 6-1.
Was hoping her first match would have given her a bit of a kick but all the same issues today, and a much better opponent. Albeit one that should be in her range really.
But still, she's got a win at a WTA 250 outside the UK, keeps consolidating her top 100 slot and let's hope she can do some good things on the US hardcourts.

Whenever I try and watch Heather she goes through a bad patch - as soon as I stopped watching after the second set she came through !
If I've worked it out right that win will take Heather above Harriet and level with Emma on 548 points, around WR131.
That happens to me as well! I sat down for coffee and saw Heather was on match point in the second set so I decided to watch. She very quickly lost that set so I switched over to Jodie who was 4-3 up with a break, but before long she had lost that set too. I switched back to Heather who was 3-0 up, just in tome to see her lose that game for 3-1. At that point I decided I'd best give up and do some work and lo and behold Hev won the next 5 games. I know it's ridiculous to say I jinx her but this really does seem to happen all the time!!
I also believe that win will take her just about into the top 100 in the race in the current live rankings.

Jodie is the player I tend to follow most so this is disappointing. i do think she is struggling following the big step up from W25/W40. Possibly her rating is a bit higher than her current ability (I'm not sure that even makes sense to me!). When she plays anyone above 150 I'm not really expecting her to win unless she has one of her big days when she could beat anyone outside the top 20. Hopefully its just a case of her adapting to the new level and does not impact her confidence

I thought Jodie adopted the right approach in the opening set and with slightly better execution, could have won it.
LS landed 82% of her first serves. She made so few errors that it was a surprise when she missed. Her speed around the court and ability to get the ball back with quality, meant that Jodie had to land aggressive shots simply to create an opening to hit a winner. Whenever Jodie played a safe rally, LS would pull her around the court until there was space for an easy winner.
2nd set Jodie had no confidence, only managed a few good points towards the end, having made a dreadful start to the set.
I don't think Jodie should be expected to win this type of match in these conditions. On a faster court, a loss to Stefanini would be disappointing.
