As horrible as that 2as I think we are forgetting that Jodie has only just broken into the top 100 and a lot of this is new to her.

I do remember 12 months ago and for years before Jodie continually losing 3 set matches whereas most recently she has been winning a lot of these matches.

I assume Jodie is off to the states after this tournament? Its an exciting time for her and see how high she can go.

True, and at least she has proved herself more adept at winning 3rd set breakers today than 2 of her compatriots who go by the names of Loffhagen and Dart.....cry

It was really good to be reminded today of Heather as an offensive player. She was playing with greater freedom. So often in the last couple of years she starts to push when she gets tight so has been nice to see her enjoying her tennis these last few weeks.

I can go along with Ostapenko, Bouzkova or Sorribes Tormo being offensive players but I would personally say Heather is one of the good eggs on tour.

I meant more that when Watson is more offensive she can be more effective, rather than her being a naturally attacking player.

I think Jeff meant offensive as in foul/detestable as a play on words

I think we find that most of what Jeff says is a play on words, often very humourous, sometimes needing a bit of interpreting!

Started the second equally well, going a consolidated break up again. But has gone a little frayed at the edges and has been pegged back. Hatouka a bit more solid and we're seeing a few more errors.

Heather Watson GBR 6-2 *2-2 Q Yuliya Hatouka ***

She was lucky to escape that game. Hatouka's missed return at *30-40 off a puffball second serve was very bad.

The errors are definitely less from Hatouka but when they come they are still wild.

Both girls hold from 15-40. Big ace to escape that game.

4-3*
