Credit for winning a final set tiebreak, but really that was a total embarrassment from both players. I will gladly have some of what the commentator was taking.
As horrible as that 2as I think we are forgetting that Jodie has only just broken into the top 100 and a lot of this is new to her.
I do remember 12 months ago and for years before Jodie continually losing 3 set matches whereas most recently she has been winning a lot of these matches.
I assume Jodie is off to the states after this tournament? Its an exciting time for her and see how high she can go.
If Jodie can keep her points total rising over the last 3rd of the season, she might well guarantee herself direct entry to all of the slams next year. It's a very long way to go obviously, but I think with some careful/smart playing choices, she can stay inside the top 90, and from there, who knows.

Jodie's 3 set W/L record :
2021 : 1 / 11
2022 : 7 / 13
2023 : 10 / 6
2021 to Ilkley 2022 : 3 / 19
Eastbourne 2022 to present : 15 / 11
Good or bad as she has generally played, a clear attitude change and sticking in more has helped bring her many more wins and ranking points.
A good hold from Heather but she can't capitalise on 40-15* in the next game. Two well constructed points from Siniakova save them. Saves a game point then does a super job to break.
*5-3
Quickly two points away but pulled back. Some very good tennis for set point but great defence isn't enough in the end and it is saved. Saves a break point when Siniakova nets, and gets set point number 2. Double fault. Yuk. Netted return gives her a third. Super defence again but loses the forehand exchange. A superb serve, but Siniakova's return just clips the line and Heather goes long a couple of shots later. She saves it but the third seed gets another, and Heather goes the wrong way with the short ball and misses a straightforward volley.
I guess we should remember that just over a year ago Jodie was playing in W25 and anytime she went to W60 would struggle to get any wins. Shes now getting wins at W100 and W250. Its a massive step up.
That's a big win for Hev. The last time she beat a player inside the top 40 was Miami 2022 wen she beat Svitolina WR20. The time before that I think was Shuai Zhang in Birmingham 2021
