Double fault. Think she's got an ace (she hadn't), decent volley from Raina. Double fault. First serve barely lands in the tramlines and the backhand goes about 7 foot long.
Goes up *2-0, throws in a foul double, super winner followed by ugly error *3-2, eventually gets the overhead to put away the point to change ends at *4-2.
An unusual Raina error off a groundstroke for 5-2*, ooh and another tight one and it's 4 match points...
3. The forehand she pulls right back off it and it lands half way up the net.
2. Doesn't get the footwork and falls backwards off the forehand. Nets.
Gets it with a decent serve.
4-6 6-4 7-6(4)
Credit where it's due. She found a way. And when you win ugly, you still win.
Not one to ever watch again, but she hung on and didn't lose her head. Well done Jodie, worked very hard for that.

I thought it couldn't possible be as bad as described. I couldn't believe the commentators kept talking about serve breaks. They were both trying to hold serve. One each in the final set. Madness.

ugly tennis, but top 100 players come through these kind of matches. Well done considering, I hope this helps her to relax and swing freely in the 2nd round.
