The odds are you get a better R1 draw as seeds, just in that you are guaranteed to meet non seeds. But in this case Lissey & Olivia were originally drawn to play non seeds anyway, so then for themselves no theoretical R1 advantage in becoming seeds and it happens, when inheriting the original #2 seeds' spot, they have ended up with higher ranked opponents in Heather & Yanina.
They will though, unlike originally, now be guaranteed to not play a seeded pair before the SF in that the 4 seeds are in separate quarters.
An easier QF draw isn't much good if you don't get through R1 in the first place, a bird in the hand...
The standard of this match is so bad. I get they are both nervous and this is a huge opportunity but yikes. The commentator trying to talk it up as some sort of iconic battle is quite funny.
She had a break point but ballooned a forehand. Second one she basically stopped running and couldn't get under the slice. Third she nets a forehand.
Takes her fourth, although the forehand looked barely in (camera angle is low and not the most viewer friendly).
