Just the way it has turned out.

The odds are you get a better R1 draw as seeds, just in that you are guaranteed to meet non seeds. But in this case Lissey & Olivia were originally drawn to play non seeds anyway, so then for themselves no theoretical R1 advantage in becoming seeds and it happens, when inheriting the original #2 seeds' spot, they have ended up with higher ranked opponents in Heather & Yanina.

They will though, unlike originally, now be guaranteed to not play a seeded pair before the SF in that the 4 seeds are in separate quarters.

An easier QF draw isn't much good if you don't get through R1 in the first place, a bird in the hand...

I was more annoyed that Heather and Yanina are playing Lissey and Liv, when both pairs stood a chance of a few wins.

Jodies match now on. Im watching on Prime but the audio is out of sync with the play is that the case for anybody else?

Im more worried about Jodies play so far being out of sync with a top 100 ranking.

Yes audio is very annoying but not as bad as Jodies performance so far. Should be winning this.

If there is a silver lining, Raina looks fairly horrid for WTA250 level. Therefore any sort of uptick in performance ought to yield a result.

Yet another break at the start of the second. Can Jodie consolidate?

She was lucky to escape, having to save break point at *4-4 but did play a good final game to take the set.

She's got the only hold of the decider 3-1*

The quality here is really dire. Jodie has dropped serve and it's 4-4* in the final set.

Raina's serve is pedestrian at best.

Make that 4-4*

The standard of this match is so bad. I get they are both nervous and this is a huge opportunity but yikes. The commentator trying to talk it up as some sort of iconic battle is quite funny.

She had a break point but ballooned a forehand. Second one she basically stopped running and couldn't get under the slice. Third she nets a forehand.

Takes her fourth, although the forehand looked barely in (camera angle is low and not the most viewer friendly).

*5-4
