Very weak entry list for main draw and qualifiers.
Katy Dunne and Marni Banks in directly plus Isabelle Lacey and Beth Grey may also have sneaked in.
Our top juniors should have the wildcards - Ranah, Ella, Hep,(Mimi and Hannah possibly, but not entered)
Expect to get quite a few Brits through qualifying as well.
Beth will need a WC I think - 6 vacancies in the main draw and she's 7th in the Q acceptance list. Isabelle definitely has moved in to the main draw. Mimi is entered, but without a WTA, ITF or National ranking she is not where you'd expect to see her, a very long way down the alternate list. I'd agree I expect to see Ranah and Ella with a WC along with Beth and Mimi. Ciara Moore does have a feed-up WC available to use as an alternative possibility. I would have liked to have seen Kylie or 1 or 2 other college players with a main draw WC. The juniors have plenty of opportunities throughout the rest of the year. Alicia Dudeney got WCs to the main draw of 3 of the summer events last year. Speaking of which, where is Alicia this summer?
I hope the doubles WCs go to college doubles players. There seems quite a few wanting to play, considering those that tried to get into the advance entry list but couldn't as one of the team didn't have a ranking.
Jamine managed to extracate herself from a double break down, and then a single break to take the second set on a tie-break. But then lost the MTB 15-13 with match points going begging either way.
Has anyone been to an ITF event at the NTC ? I'm tempted to go along but have never been there and don't know whether they allow spectators.
I put up a big post yesterday about it but can't find it now......
In short, yes, I've been twice, including last year.
Excellent. Strongly advise you to go.
It's open to the public, there's no problem. It's a little intimidating when you get there - big iron gates with a buzzer. But (a) they were open last year, which helped and (b) just buzz, and they'll let you in (as per the previous time I went). They give you an ID bracelet as the entry but apart from that there's no special pomp and circumstance
The place is superb - very nicely planted out, beautiful buildings etc
You eat with the players in the posh canteen, with outside courtyard. (I sat on a table with Dan Cox last year - he was griping about this, that and the other , but I don't hold that against him)
Hard courts are near the complex, with wooden tribune seats built into the slope. Grass courts are through the back in the Bank of England place - there's a guy on the gate that allows you in and out if you show your armband.
Honestly, I went with a couple of friends. We had a quick look inside too. It was a really nice day, excellent tennis, good viewing, and quite a swanky feel (as you'd expect) but no problem at all for normal Jo Schmo public.
Thanks CD. I was pretty sure you would know, but decided to post rather than PM. I'm waiting for the draws and OOP before I decide whether to go tomorrow or Wednesday, as I can't do both or go later in the week.
You do realise that you are now obliged to give us a full report?
Ps I wouldn't go if the weather forecast is dodgy, lot of waiting around and I don't think they let spectators inside if matches have to be moved inside

Yes, that was the next thing to check - and it's a long walk up fom Barnes station. And with the cost of train fares nowadays I'm not going to chance it.
As you want a report I take it that your skipping this one

I'm in France at the moment, otherwise I'd be there like a shot
You can get a bus up from Barnes to Priory Lane, no? (Although then you've got the bus fare too)
