July 2023 British Player of the Month Nominations

As a philosophy, I have always said that any player gaining their first ever ranking point deserves a nomination. So .....

1. - Jan Choinski - for winning his first ATP level match, at Wimbledon and beating a player in the top 60, about 100 places higher in ranking

2. - Jodie Burrage - for reaching Wimbledon rd2 and possibly getting a top 100 ranking at the next update.

3. - Liam Broady - for reaching R3 of Wimbledon and beating the world no 4 to get there.

4. - Katie Boulter - for reaching the 3rd round of Wimbledon in successive years, number 1, top 100, AE to US Open.

5. - Andy Murray - For reaching the second round of a grand slam with a metal hip in two successive tournaments.

6. - Jonny O'Mara and Olivia Nicolls - For reaching the semi-finals of the Mixed Doubles at Wimbledon as a Wild Card entry, beating the 4th and 5th seeds on the way

7. - Naiktha Bains and Maia Lumsden for being the first all British ladies pairing for 40 years to reach the Ladies Doubles Quarter Finals

8. - Henry Searle - Wimbledon Boys' Champion!!

9. - Neal Skupski - Wimbledon Men's Doubles Champion and STILL Nš 1 in the world.

10. - Toby Samuel - Won the 25k singles title at Notts, despite being a full-time college student and only age 20, AND won a round in Wimbly Men's Doubles

11. - Alfie Hewett/Gordon Reid - won the Wimbledon wheelchair mens doubles title, their fifth Wimbledon title, and on Court One!

12. - Mark Ceban - Wimbledon Boy's 14 and under Champion.

13. - Mattias Southcombe - For getting his first ever WR point.

Nice one Bob - and applying your philosophy after a win in the land of Confucious is quite appropriate as well !

Thanks to DF for the Friday update britishtennis.activeboard.com/t66034135/who-has-that-friday-feeling/

If any of these or any other players come on anyone's radar as a Player of the Month nomination, add them here - nominations have just next week to run

I also see that one or two players already nominated (Jodie, Mark Ceban, Mattias) may need a narrative update later this week, if the relevant nominator is able to pick that up it would be appreciated (I updated Katie B to comment on her winning the most grass matches by a Brit this season as I felt this added something to her record)

And I missed out Freya and Ali in the WTA 250 in Lausanne. 60 points for reaching the QF's in a 250 tournament

Yes, there are at least a couple of prematurely gloomy posts around.
