Boys & Girls: J30 Edinburgh, Scotland - clay (Week 27)

It's a pretty skinny qualification draw - not that many entrants, especially in the boys

Which might be fine, I guess, but there's no exams or anything now so - again - let's not hear that there aren't domestic events for our players and only those who can travel abroad have access to competition. Because Edinburgh was right there, needing entrants.

In the girls, the Q1 seed is Martha Ground, age 13, fresh off her QF in Poland

I'm guessing Celine Ricaud has a wildcard, after her win at the Scottish Open

In the boys, the top Q seed is Angel Fonseca Garcia from Spain

Daniel Joita, one of our top 14 year-olds, is also here

I presume that Martha Ground and Matthew G are related - or has something strange happened wink

The FINALS are:

Boys: Conor Flynn v Jamie Mackenzie (GER)

(Query how anyone called Jamie Mackenzie can NOT be Scottish, I mean, it should be against the Trade Desciptions Act )

Girls: Sophia Christodoulou v Elisabeth Braathen (NOR)

COngrats to young Sophia !

Girls Final: Sophia Christodoulou def. Elisabeth Braathen (NOR) 7-5 6-7(7) 6-3

A real battle

And to Fran Simpson, who took the doubles title, with Emma Lindh (SWE)

They beat Aimee Knowles and Elisabeth Braathen in a MTB (not a good day for the poor Norwegian girl, to lose both finals)

In the boys, Conor lost his final

But got the doubles title, along with Lance Nisbet

they beat Harry Abel & Kouros Anssarizadeh, 6-3 7-5
