Week 27/28 - Wimbledon Ladies, Great Britain Grass -DOUBLES

The second should have been a lot easier - they only took 2 out of 11 break points. Much the better pair.

And now it is raining

Rain. Might help keep them composed, might not. Who knows.

Yes. Normally you'd think, oh no, they had the momentum, a rain break is the last thing they need...

But I don't think so, actually - rather this was the time the nerves would kick in and their heads would become porridge - so, yes, a good moment for the team to re-set

You call this a rain break so you must be expecting play today?

Sigh. Ali and Freya lose 6-3 in the third. Basically as soon as they missed one half chance (a deuce) they got a bit flustered and down on themselves, played an immediately following poor game to get broken.

Missed a break point at 2-4* and Ali fluffed returns on their two break points in the final game.

Disappointing, I mean you couldn't get a better draw for your first time in a Slam. Not like their opponents are experienced in this situation either, both playing only their second Slam.

Heather and Harriet a set to the good.

I didn't watch it as I thought there was a very good chance they'd lose

But allez, Hev and Heather !

Heather and Harriet unravelled a little. Their opponents did reach the final a 250 on the grass in the lead-up.

6-1 2-6 1-2*

Heather and Harriet are careless at times and their opponents are taking advantage

That's a real shame as that section was wide open with our girls having knocked out both seeded pairs.

I suppose it might say a lot about seeding/ranking in doubles.... hmm

But definitely disappointing - those were two winnable matches for our women today
