Huge win!

6-4 3-6 6-4

Seeds dropping like flies in the ladies doubles draw. Super performance against one of the best teams in the world.

Yay !!!!

Ostapenko played a real shocker of a third set

Harriet was pretty passive too (I'm sure Cayre would have words to say)

But Hev was stellar

Great win, girls - really pleased for them

Great to see Heather and Harriet come through to win that one.

Harriet up 18 to WR92 and Heather up 68 to WR177 in live rankings
Lissey and Liv drop to WR81 and WR82

Great performance from H & H - especially Heather.

Third time lucky for Dart and Watson, who previously lost to the same opponents from a set up at Eastbourne and Wimbledon in 2022. It's easy to forget how successful Watson has been in doubles, with 4 WTA titles from 11 finals. She and Dart are looking to reach round 3 for the 3rd year in a row.

Opponents are a good pair who've got a title in grass. But it does feel this pairing may have just about stretched to where it can go, sadly.

A shame they haven't been able to replicate their 2022 form this year, not quite sure why.

They both played much better in their mixed matches later in the day. Perhaps the occasion and waiting until Friday to get on court got to them ? They were both very tight in the early games and made lots of errors.

I'm watching Freya and Ali and it's such a joy to enjoy a match with all the normal sounds but no inane commentary. Actually it was the same for Katie's mixed doubles last night. I wish this was an option for every match.

How many times to Ali and Freya get themselves in a good position and then manage to lose it?

Do they have any coaching with Cayer ?

They could really do with some .....

Yeah how they conspired to lose that set against a pretty average pair from 4-2* up

So, that set was easy-peasy

6-2

Pretty much as the first set should have been

Which is all very well, but now they have to do the difficult bit - not tighten up, not start playing passively, basically not blow it as they have done on most other occasions recently
