Week 27/28 - Wimbledon Ladies, Great Britain Grass

What a horrible final so far. Ons just making error after error.

Ons is just so burdened by pressure. Incredibly tense it's sad to see.

Vondrousova has this very irritating game, it's not attractive to watch at all, but it's winning.

I can't see from the TV how high above the net Vondrousova's shots are floating, but some of these seem like volley put aways if she moves up the court

Disagree Marketas game is a very attractive one with lots of variety, spins and pace. Good at the net, lefty swing serve - what more do you want lol

Very sad . Another opportunity gone for Jabeur who on paper should be winning this match easily .

Her body language was terrible and although I feel very sorry for her part of being a champion is coping with the pressure which she cant do in major finals .

In all honesty Vondrousova is a very lucky winner who managed to avoid the big players , Pegula imploded , Svitolina did the same and now Jabeur .

She didnt even play that well today but to be blunt most players could have beaten Jabeur today .

Lets bear in mind that an 18 year old Raducanu beat Vondrousova at Wimbledon 2 years ago

Really like Annabel Croft doing the on court interviews. Tbh with nothing against Clare Balding Annabel would make a great main presenter imo.

I dId wanted Ons to win but it seemed to me she was weighed down by expectation. To Vondrousova congrats - the best player on the day. Also a year ago in a wrist cast as a spectator- bodes well for Emma Raducanu, no reason why not!

Yes Im a big fan of Annabel too, very likeable lady. Her and Clare should share the presenting duties

I was rooting for Ons, but she didn't deserve it.

Her legs stopped moving, she froze, it was all like a rabbit in the headlights.

Part of that is obviously due to her opponent making it tricky and not giving her pace etc etc

But a lot was of her own making

I bet Jodie was watching thinking 'yep, that's exactly what I did - just couldn't play my tennis, went to pieces'

(And yes, Marketa had three wrist surgeries and was in a cast last year - so Emma, 2024 is your moment! )

Yes, I really like Annabel's presenting and punditry. And I trust it is also fine to say that she looks great for 57 yo.

I am just in awe of Annabel being at Wimbledon working this year when it's not many weeks since she lost her husband. Maybe this helps her through any grief but what a lovely lady she is and Indiana I don't think it's wrong at all to say she looks great for her 57 yrs. Only stating what is true to see.
