Rybakina's weight of shot is just too much for Katie at the moment

Yup. Shes not even attempting to get some of these. Some silly mistakes too but just hard to handle.

Its a shame first of all Jodie and now Katie cant perform well when the world is watching. Missing a certain mentality unfortunately. Still time for Katie though come on!!

There's a big difference. Jodie basically froze and didn't perform to anything like she is capable, Katie is not being given the opportunity to. Most of this Rybakina stuff is just unplayable (for someone of Katie's level).

Katies 1st serve has been way down on her last two matches PaulM

Jeezo those serving placement stats for Rybakina are unreal. Phenomenal performance given she looked very shaky against Rogers and wasn't brilliant in parts against Cornet.

Good hold for Katie at least there's something to hold on to.

1-2*

Rybakina 4 of 5 first serves in the next game - 119mph, 120mph, 118mph, 113mph. Second serve is 102mph. Wild.

 I agree with Paul

Katie is not freezing in the headlights

She's playing her level

She just can't play her game against the heavy deep balls  of rybakina

There's nothing wrong with her mental game

It is but she's only winning half her points behind the first serve anyway. A couple more first serves a game wouldn't make a dent on Rybakina this evening.

I respectfully disagree. 1st serve way down, shot selection (when she has them) questionabl. But her fighting spirit is always there I will always be a Katie Boulter fan.

Hold on - Katie has just recently come back into the top 100 - she is up against No. 3 in the world. She has recently had so little experience playing at this level that she needs time to re-adjust. Whatever happens third round in Wimbledon in two successive years is a good show. OK, it's not a Raducanu performance, but so be it - I think Katie has done really well. Wish her luck as she gains entry into more prestigious tournaments.

Katie has given it her best shot. What more can we ask of her, really?

Schooled tonight but a very good week to end a great grass season.

She'll be at a new career high a week on Monday.

It baffles me as to why interviewers are still standing so far away from the players they're interviewing. Social distancing stopped being a requirement a long time ago.

I think people are getting me wrong, I wasnt slagging Katie off Im a big fan and im so
Impressed with her grasscourt season. But she was nervous tonight and there is a certain lack of positive/confident mind sets amongst our best players in the big matches which can be seen in the first serve percentages, shot selections etc.

Yep. Of course she could have made a few more first serves. But that wasn't really the issue. It wouldn't have changed much. And was partly a reflection of her fear of the return anyway. And, yes, there were a few poor shot selections. But she made quite a lot of poor shot selections in her previous matches too. The problem is she didn't get punished in the same way in those ones. She simply didn't have the time to play the right shots, she was constantly foreshortened in everything she was doing.

So, playing the defending champion, with a huge difference in ranking, I think she put out a very reasonable performance. And, yes, unlike a few other players or doubles teams who really played poor matches, given their opponent's level

The problem is as Var says, youve got to play the higher level opponents to know how to compete with them, and she hasnt for a good while now. The sheer difference in the speed/weight of shot was really clear here. She has the same tactics but got outhit.

Hopefully she can take the ranking increase from this season and enter more 250s to get the right practice without too much pressure on points for the rest of the year.
