Week 27/28 - Wimbledon Ladies, Great Britain Grass

Proper slugfest, but Kenin was so solid and deserved to win. Cracking match

Kenin is just about the most tenacious player when she wants it. A Kenin vs Collins match at their most feisty would be a great match up!

CD, I bow to your greater presence at the qualies. I was only there for the first round, and saw just a few games. Not as impressive as today, but her game was gettinng there.

Harriets instagram page is appalling tonight. Not seen so many angry sad little gamblers in one place in a while. Poor thing and hope someone will get rid for her.

I dont think theres anywhere else to put Katie B, all the other Brits either are seeds or have seeds I think! Savilles not really a name.

Wasnt she Gavrilova before, I thought she had a profile of sorts?

These platforms should let everyone be able to delete any comment on anyone's post. Treat the web like a big Wikipedia. Yes it would be pandemonium for a while, but then the haters would get bored because they'd be outnumbered by the silent majority, and would eventually leave social media to the socially minded.

 Utterly horrible for Harriet

But hilarious as to the angry saddos - the odds for Harriet were really tight - why would anyone have bet? Even if you thought Harriet would win, you couldn't bet - you weren't getting paid for the risk - Parry was at 3.2, for goodness sake.

So, Harriet, I hope it cheers you up - they're morons, in more ways than one.

Just had a look and the comments are disgusting. Sadly worldwide gambling some legal and some not so legal permeate everywhere. Harriet is gutted enough with her own comments without seeing that stuff. However I hope her own disappointment spurs her on to better things. She will be back in the top 100 soon enough.

And Jodie today was very sweet getting emotional at her interview. Was really good to see her connect with the crowd as well she played some really good stuff.

Was good to hear Sania Mirza on comms today for Venus v Elina. Think its good to get recently retired professionals that know the players instead of well you know who I mean. Slight gripe today with Claire Balding who clearly doesnt keep up to date with tennis as much as Sue and others do. She was attempting to appear knowledgable but clearly last minute research I noticed a few obvious examples.

So happy for Jodie. Getting the win and finally cracking the top 100.
Hopefully both her and Boulter can gain direct entry into the US Open.

I reckon they should as they have little to defend, but it just depends on what happens around them. Usuallya round 100 isn't it? although SEs kick in. Also protected rankings.

Great for Jodie. Although I always felt the talent was there actually she only first got into the top 200 in June last year. Much better focussed in the last.year or so and first into the top 120 in April this year with her France W60 title. So she hasn't really hung around too long in moving through the 100s then this last bit, very likely into the top 100.

The  rankings date for the main draw entry list for the US Open is 17/07, ie. the immediate post Wimbledon rankings, so certainly nothing to defend for either Katie or Jodie, and their live rankings for 17/07 are looking good, although clearly quite a number could still pass them during the Wimbledon fortnight with us still just halfway through Wimbledon R1.

Katie is live ranked 89 on 742 points, which includes 10 points for taking the court for R1 ( hopefully she'll do a bit more than that! ). Jodie is live ranked 93 on 707 points with her 70 points for a R1 win.

I was at Eastbourne for semis last week and saw Madison do something similar to Kenin and beat Gauff. We were all expecting Coco to come back, but she didn't.Seems to have lost a her edge.
