Week 26 - WTA500 - Eastbourne, Great Britain Grass

Vondrousova has just pulled out so there is currently one spot.

Kvitova and Ostapenko have both just won in Birmingham and Berlin and are due to meet in the first round here! Id be surprised if both show up though. Krejickova has just lost in Birmingham and is due to play the doubles final there too so she is another potential no show.

De Minaur has pulled out on the men's side - no real surprise there given his run at Queens.

Goodness- exodus! Bit disappointing for people paying good money to watch, although Garcia and Rybakina should be there. Coco and Jessica have gone a little quiet. Suppose they can shoehorn in some more lower-ranking Brits to make up the numbers; good points on offer here.

I'm not convinced most of the crowd goers really care? I doubt any of them bought their tickets in the hope of seeing Sakkari or Voundrosova!

Paul M good point, but I was expecting to see some of the top 10 players. Maybe won't bother next year.

Will have to be Q LL replacements.

What's the rules for selecting LLs here? Clearly Jodie and Heather as Q WCs would be down the pecking order on rankings.

LL spots before qualifying has finished are filled by a draw of the (no of places +1) highest ranked losers in the fqr. Places that become available after qualifying has finished are filled in order of ranking of FQR losers.

Really? Thats not very fair on the players still playing qualifying matches?

Think you're misunderstanding Mark - the before/after relates to when the main draw withdrawal happens. The lucky loser spots aren't "filled" until all qualifying matches are done when the qualifier/LL placements are drawn. So when you finish your qualifying match is irrelevant to your chances of getting a lucky loser spot.

Ah yeah ok. Should use the same system for allocating LL spots in each instance, make it last confusing for everybody lol
