I am afraid that it is time the world was told that Heather lost by 7-6(5) 6-2

No real surprise against the world no 83. Did Heather lose in the second round of Quals last year at Eastbourne? Anyway, lets see how Jodie does.

Yes she lost to Tsurenko at the same stage, but entered the main draw as an LL, losing to Rebecca Marino

Jodie saves two set points to break for *4-5, saves another two (one with a sensational and very difficult passing shot) and levels

5-5*

Jodie has one break point but Paolini holds after 3 deuces

*5-6

Couple of errors at the end of that game cost her.

Beat herself there. Muttering, moaning, snatching at the ball rather than hitting through. 3 errors and a double fault and she's broken to love.

5-7 0-0*

Argh Jodie. Was playing nice tennis to *4-1, had a point for *5-2 but has allowed herself to be sucked in to 4-4*

*4-5

Jasmine is playing much better than she did yesterday, but Jodie absolutely has the tennis to win this. But time running out.

Those are two very disappointing losses indeed.

Loses 7-5 6-4. Frustrating not to take that to 3.

On the plus side, the tennis is in there, and she can't possibly play any worse at Wimbledon than she has the last two years. She's due a tough draw though, but hopefully can turn in a great performance regardless.

The placement of Jodie's first serve is awful. So many of her first serves are right into Jasmine's hitting zone. The good serves down the T or out wide, really stand out. It was evident in the Nottingham final too when contrasted with Katie Boulter's serves, and other matches on grass recently. Ended up winning 45.8% of her first serve points despite 6 aces (one of which was a 2nd serve ace).

I'd expect Jasmine to out-perform Jodie in the rallies and that's typically what happened.

The games early in the first set when Jodie had several game points yet still got broken were annoying, especially the game to get broken for 2-4. Jasmine contributed a couple of very good points early in the game but the rest was Burrage errors and two dfs. Jodie did well to save set points then break back for *4-5. A deep 2nd serve save Paolini at 5-5, though Jodie wasted a good chance to set up bp earlier in the game after a super rally, managing to dump an easy forehand into the net after defending brilliantly. Rubbish final game in the first set.

Jodie seemed to be doing ok at *4-1 in the 2nd set but 2 costly dfs in her next service game then Jasmine came up with enough good play to take each game until the end, despite Jodie playing a couple of good points in most of those games. Paoline volley winner to save bp at 4-3* after a well constructed point.

With the exception of her first serve placement and a few too many dfs, I thought Jodie played reasonably well for her.

They should have both taken the wins today. Yes their opponents are both in the top 100 but they are both clay court specialists and this is a home event on grass. I think a lot of our players are over exposed to opportunities and financial support from the LTA that they just do not show up consistently enough.

Pity. But the Brits have overall done pretty well this grass court season so far.

Great if they could be more consistent, as with most of the women.

Can we try threatening that not all our leading non direct entry players are going to get MD WCs next year too?

Further to earlier discussions about the live ranking sites, it is very generous of OER to have 30 points standing by for Katie B and Harriet being in the L32 here.

Thing is OER, this year it is just a 32 player main draw and they haven't played yet. 55 points if they win their R1/L32 match, 1 point if they lose.
