 Thank you. Totally agree.

 Agree with what?

There is a lot on social at present saying Jodie should have got the WC for Eastbourne and it shouldnt have been given to Garcia despite her ranking.

Then they don't understand that's not possible. In a 32 draw WTA500 there are 2 WCs and 2 Top 20 WCs. Any Top 20 WC that is not used reverts to a direct acceptance place for the next player waiting to get into the draw. The rules do not allow it to be given to Jodie. It's only in a WTA250 that if both Top 20 WCs are not used can the tournament give an additional 'normal' WC.

3 British women got WCs last year because it was a 48 draw. The LTA have reduced it to a 32 draw this year so there are only 2 WCs available for them to give to their choices.

Very well explained.

And QED.

There would be a good argument for that being on the drawsheet

i.e. on the PdF, it could have at the bottom:

Top 20 WC: Garcia
Discretionary WC: Dart; Boulter

Shame she made such a terrible start to the tiebreak. Left herself too much to do.

Katie draws Krejikova, Harriet draws Shua Zhang.

I fancy Harriet for the win there but tough for Katie. If Barbora wins Birmingham she may pull out?

Shuai Zhang has lost her last 10 singles matches. Harriet  could not get a more favourable draw.

Jodie saves a matchpoint at 3-5 and breaks back with a lot of help from Rakhimova for 5-5

What a great draw for Harriet. Katie may end up playing someone different but Id argue good to have top level opposition before Wimbledon
