Raina is a really good marker for where Mimi is at I think - a competent, established professional for whom 180-220 is about 'right', who does everything well but nothing particularly spectacularly. We'll need to see how this goes when she restarts from a break down in the third, but I think all indicators are Mimi matches up well with the pros at this level, and her team can easily see from matches like this where the development is needed as she continues to grow.
Looks like the Turk got out the right side of the best this morning. Shame as Beth was doing so well yesterday!!

Yes, I agree
Raina is very 'playable' - as you say, a good solid player, nimble, a decent level but nothing scary
Given Mimi is 15 and ranked about 800 places lower, she's already done very well to get it to three sets.
But it's a good learning match and it'll be interesting to see how she tackles the rest of it when it resumes
hard to believe it is raining over there - not a drop all day and nice and sunny with a decent breeze here just a few miles away.
We had a heavy shower around 1pm, and they were about to get people back out on court when there was another one. Play due to resume around 3.15pm. Only three courts have covers, so the rest will need to dry off.

I did look last night at the BBC forecast for Ilkley for today and while less than 50% each hour the rain chance %s were far from insignificant from late morning through most of the afternoon. So it did look potentially dodgy.
There is now talk around the media pen that some of today's matches may be moved indoors. Given the forecast for tomorrow (which could potentially be a complete washout), it wouldn't surprise me. There is precedent for this here they had to hold the Men's Final indoors in 2017.
Talia's match has moved indoors. The rest of the matches in progress will likely remain outdoors to avoid having two surfaces in one match. No spectator or media viewing on the indoor courts so I'm as blind as the rest of you for Talia.

How many indoor courts do they have these days, Mark? When I used to visit the club regularly many years ago, they had 2 courts, and could put collapsible picnic chair style seating around the outside behind the net - but that might not meet the "space" guidelines needed for a Pro event - when I used to go, it was just the Ilkley Open and no ranking points; but they played the final a couple of times back in the day indoors; I saw Mike Appleton win a final on the indoor courts versus Nick Brown or someone like that
They've started playing and Beth is live-streamed but 1-5 down in the final set. Hannah also due on a different live-streamed court after the final set of the match currently being played there.

There are five, I believe, but because you have to walk through the players' area to reach the indoor courts, anyone who doesn't have the right grounds access (i.e. everyone who isn't a player) can't go and watch, even if there was space for spectators. I believe they do have a balcony which I've also watched from before, but I don't think it's open to the public during this event.
It has brightened up considerably since I had to leave the club - sod's law, right? So we should get another solid couple of hours before tomorrow's predicted washout.
