Does the winner of Ilkley get a WC? So if Navarro or Galfi win then it will be spare as both have direct entry?

I hope Navarro wins simply because the Surbiton winner was promised one and, as I understand, the promise will be reneged if Bjorklund wins!

 The promise is reneged anyway

All the wildcards have been attributed now

There's none left

What was the form of this Surbiton "promise"?

 It's a good question

Even the commentators thought it was a 'hard' promise. They congratulated Wickmayer and said 'see you at Wimbledon' or whatever

But as someone else said on this forum somewhere, seemingly it is not a promise at all, just a custom or an indication or whatever you want to call it. I think the person who posted it had a couple of lines of official blurb which I can't remember now but it wasn't much and, if that's all there was, it's a bit of an Emperor's New Clothes sort of thing - everyone was a bit duped, not least poor Wickmayer

Agreed - Im pretty sure virtually everyone here understood the winners of the warm up events not already qualified would get wild cards. May not be written down but anyone saying they dont recognise that as something they probably expected would be disingenuous. Whatever we think about our girls, I think Wickmayer was certainly hard done by and Mirjam May feel the same tomorrow. I hope in the mens that Ofner does get one and anyone else doing well next week not already qualified, given there are two left over still.

Wickmayer lost for the first time this grass season, today at Gaiba, in both singles and doubles.

Good match in the final: bjorklund was the more aggressive, made more mistakes but also was much more positive and I liked her play. Deserved the win and she was very emotional afterwards, a big win for her.
