Hugely tougher field than Notts here. Top qualies seed is top 50 here, was 119 in Notts.

Presumably some of these players would have a preferred an Ilkley MDWC but weren't given one.

We don't know what the qualifying entry list is here, but someone may have an SE here. Cornet, Katie B, Heather and Hruncakova are not known to be in any of the other tournament lists so may well be on the qualifying entry list here and they are all still competing in their 250s. Whether Katie gets the SE and frees up a WC depends on whether Cornet is entered here and whether she (Cornet) has made the main draw directly.

The top two seeds in qualifying are Tsurenko and Bogdan. Cornet was recently ranked higher than both of them until the current rankings came out, so might well have just made the main draw. I'm not sure of the cutoff date on the entry list, but Bogdan was actually the highest ranked on 08 May if that helps.

Eden and Emily made a good fight of it but come out losers

Eden lost 6-3 2-6 4-6

Emily lost 6-3 7-5. Eden took the first set off Tomova, before the Bulgarian went on a run to take the second 6-2 and lead 3-0 in the decider. Eden got it back to 4-4, but couldn't save the third matchpoint against her serve at 4-5 so loses 3-6 6-2 6-4

I thought Emily really had that second set - she had tons of break points, and should look at the video back afterwards, because it was her set, she was playing well - I wonder if she just didn't quite believe enough.....

Eden was a little all over the place (as normal) but like the way she really made it hard for Tom in the third - those wild shots do cost her though....
