RE: Pets/ dogs

So sorry to hear that, Tennpar. cry It leaves a (big) hole, doesn't it?

If you feel like sharing any stories of your Luna, I'm sure we'd all like to hear them.

Thanks guys, she was a lovely dog. Reached the average age for her large breed - would have been 9 next week.
Put to sleep peacefully at home after suddenly developing heart failure, which wasn't responsive to medications.
Have a 2 year old youngster, which eases our pain so we continue to do doggy things. She's a bit sad and mopey too though..
Luna wasn't really a foodie sort of dog, but a demon for any picnics, ice creams & treats in other people's pockets (and was the right height to extract them efficiently) smile

She sounds like she was a wonderful friend! What sort of breed was she? And whats your younger dog called?

Jon,
Scottish deerhound - another of our native breeds with dwindling numbers (Sirius Black in a couple of the Harry Potter films - although they're all grey). Had my first one when I was a teenager - lovely biddable easy dogs (although a bit riotous sometimes as pups).
Youngster called Sola

Sounds great - and was Luna a nod to Harry P also? Our Luna was named after Luna Lovegood, again before Luna became a popular name!

Luna sounds like quite a character, Tennpar! I'm glad that she got to have a peaceful passing at home and that you have the comfort of Sola to still do doggy things.

It was the anniversary of our little Luna's passing yesterday, hard to believe one whole year has gone by. We thought about her a lot - my wife and I think about her always tbh - and she still leaves a hole a year later.

We toyed with the idea of getting another dog a few months ago when the breeder we got Luna from advised us she was expecting some pups soon; felt too early - partly as I think we would just be getting a new Luna and not sure that is fair on the new dog and, secondly, we are quite enjoying a bit of personal freedom which a dog doesn't allow!!

So it may be a while longer, certainly into 2025, before we see another dog in our family.
