Tough draw for Swanny especially after her efforts in Surbiton.

Maybe but Cornet is not having a good year. Alize is 7-13 on the year.

There are potentially tough 2nd round matches if our top 3 ladies and the seeds win their opening match. Swan would face top seed Sakkari, Boulter would play 2nd seed and last year's winner Haddad Maia, and Jodie would play 3rd seed Linette. They all need at least 2 wins this week to be ahead of Emma in next week's rankings. It's hard to see Emma not returning to GB #1 next week.

Does anyone know why they've removed it from the red button?

Could have been tougher, Tatjana Maria is in the other side of the draw and currently giving big hitter S.Zhang the run-around. smile.gif

I know but it originally had it as starting at 11 then kept changing it

Sonay has started and currently on serve, having missed three BPs on Frech's opening service game.

Q Sonay Kartal GBR 2-1* Magdalena Frech POL

The BBC are only showing the men this week as the Women's WTA is on Prime.  Presumably they were waiting for the schedule to see when the men would be on the main court.

Jeez the Kartal-Frech match is terrible.

3-4*

Sonay being rather wasteful with opportunities.

Sonay repeatedly in dangerous positions on Frech's serve, at 0-30 or with BPs...but no breakthrough, and the Pole breaks at the first opportunity.

Q Sonay Kartal GBR 3-4* Magdalena Frech POL

The BBC are showing women as well, just not today. It's showing on LTA website/YouTube if you don't have Prime.

The match improved a bit as it went on, but overall not great viewing. Unfortunately:

Magdalena Frech POL d. Q Sonay Kartal GBR 6-3 5-7 6-2

Heather has started and gone a break down:

Jule Niemeier GER *2-0 Q Heather Watson GBR
