Week 24 - WTA250 Nottingham, UK - Grass

Very impressive performance from Katie Boulter, ultra aggressive, first serve into the corners, brutal returns, super initial groundstroke after her serve.

Jodie looked sluggish, made weird choices such as those medium paced first serves in the 2nd set that got crushed, a few terrible errors - backhand wide at 30-30 at *1-3 and other errors at key moments. 2nd serve was a disaster, didn't seem to know what to do faced with Katie being so aggressive.

Didn't know Katie had a new coach now - has JB no longer being involved made a difference do we think?

I never watch replays normally once I know a result, but I'm watching this one

Katie dropping JB isn't entirely good news because it still means he will move on to ruin somebody else

What is it about JB's coaching style that is so objectional?

His overall demeanour is soul sucking (allegedly)

Apart from any stylistic issues, it appears that everyone that he has ever coached has got measurably worse as a player under his tutelage.

Thought Katie was sensational today. Really impressive and Jodie was simply blown away. Great week for her as well however

His courtside coaching leaves a lot to be desired - and I don't think he knows what a smile is.

Presumably JB has superiors who should he capable of making judgements as to his ongoing performance, both in results of his players and his apparent coaching style ( commented on by quite a number here who have seen him in action )?

Or is he for some reason in with the bricks / knows where a few bodies are buried?

Seems such a pity if he  has been able ( and continues to be able ) to truly negatively effect some of our leading prospects.

I think there's perhaps a certain generation of tennis parent who place a lot of value on his name alone.

Fantastic result for Katie B. Please let this be the start of bigger things for Katie and staying in the top 100. Still a good week for Jodie and all the British girls. Is this the springboard moment? Let's hope so.
