Lovely win for heather! Angles galore and some lovely dropshots too.

Also, given Lissey & Liv just trounced Neal & Lloyd's Roland Garros mixed partners, hopefully that will persuade the boys to pick homegrown partners this time around :)

And she does close it this time. Another 3 MPs and she takes it on the second.

Some crossed words at the net - Harriet annoyed with something Katie does that was "unprofessional". Anyone catch what it was?

Katie Boulter GBR d. Harriet Dart GBR 6-3 7-5

It was to do with Boulter tapping her temple with the index finger at the moment of victory, as if to say "I won that by being smarter" or at least that's how the gesture could be interpreted. I know Boulter probably didn't mean it that way, but it was a bit adversarial, especially between fellow Brits who have competed together at the national level. Boulter said in reply she does that every match, and it's probably directed more at her team. Still, a match between the two top Brits isn't just any match, and I think when the heat of the moment has passed she will reflect on it, and perhaps have a word with Dart. Dart also had a MTO during the match and Boulter might have considered that too. It's about respect, and yes Harriet has a point about it being a bit unprofessional conduct.

She does do it in other matches. Ive seen her. I wouldn't think it meant that she played smarter. I took it to mean that she kept her head straight and remained focused. No disrespect to her opponent at all. it's probably a reminder to herself to do that in every match.

Well done Katie. And bad luck Harriet. It's been a great tournament for our girls. I think it's better to focus on that than on words said in the heat of the moment. Three semi finalists out of four in a WTA tournament. Great effort.

Great interview for Heather in response to those who question why she carries on playing: she loves playing and she carries on for moments like that. And she thinks the GB girls are under ranked for their current level. Loving seeing that huge smile.

A win for Katie tomorrow will take her back into the top 100.

Astonished Harriet feels she has a leg to stand on criticising the behaviour of others, given her less than perfect conduct towards the ball boys and ball girls at Eastbourne last year.

Have you ever been less than perfect, Jeff?

I reckon Harriet might have thought she was watching her Wimbledon main draw wildcard flying out the window and wasn't feeling all that chipper.....

I also think Harriet could have had a word with Katie privately, if she had an issue with it, she didn't need to do it in front of everyone either (i.e. Katie B might be somewhat at fault but Harriet was too - wash your dirty linen in private)

When did she do that?  I listened to her interview and didn't hear her criticise anyone!

It was after they shook hands, as they were going to their chairs - nothing much, but there are microphones everywhere, it all gets picked up

well yeah, but I also do not mug people off at the net when losing important matches. I think you have fallen victim to false equivalence fallacy.

You're entitled to your own opinion, Jeff. I'm not astonished by your comment.

Sounds like both Harriet and Heather are dealing with tonsillitis.

If Jodie wins her semi final we would be guaranteed the first all British  WTA singles final since Sue Barker beat Virginia Wade at San Francisco in March 1977. Virginia was none too pleased and made some unpleasant comments after the match. Losing to a fellow compatriot of a similar standard does not please the loser.
