Kalinina was *terrible* against NPD in round one, only saved by the Spaniard (who was also pretty poor) choking away the first set and combusting.
The Ukrainian really hasn't had a good year at all, and is one of those players I always do a double take when I see there ranking, as I still remember her mostly as slugging it out in the 80-130 range and her massive rise totally passed me by as she's never done well at a Slam (only got to round 3 once) and has no Main Tour titles (just a 125k).
She just reached the final in Rome! Shes a very good player when shes on

She reached the final in Rome this year which will help keep her ranking high for the forseeable, but as you say not much at all to shout about this year, apart from that.
The Ukrainian off to a slightly better start in this set, earning her first BP which Dart saved with an ace and then held after a second ace. Anhelina then held after a long game to get on the board at last.
Obviously a much tighter second set, but Harriet still playing very well. Using the Ukrainian's pace against her very well, and hitting heavy, deep balls herself. Kalinina not nearly as dire as she was in the first set, though.
