This turnaround in Heather's fortunes is greatfully received.

Have been at Nottingham for the last three days and saw Heathers match today. She was really quite impressive. Positive but patient against an opponent who must be a nightmare to play against. She managed to overcome a really dodgy call when poised to break at 3-3 in the second set.
Given the crowds support for her and the reaction at the end, she remains a very popular player which, coupled with the 4th Rnd showing last year, may well be enough to give her the nod for a Wimbledon WC.

Did also see Jodie and the two Katies yesterday- Jodies match was of fluctuating quality but glad she got through. Katie B always had too much for Emily Appleton. I left Katie S after she had won the first set against Cornet. That was an impressive set of tennis - couldnt believe she had lost when i looked at the scores a bit later.

As I said in the mens thread, this was my first visit. Nice tournament with good facilities and the volunteers really helpful.

Bit of a wild start from Katie, hitting long more often than usual and dropping an early break. They're in the middle of an absolutely titanic, long game on Snigur's service.

Katie has struggled with her break points, with 0% success rate from eight(!) opportunities so far. With Snigur's fairly pedestrian serve, that's a bit disappointing.

[WC] Katie Boulter GBR 2-3* [LL] Daria Snigur UKR

The BBC have now picked up the WTA portion.

Katie needs to be more ruthless - enough chances to break back

THe number of unforced errors on the break points is just awful

It's a real shame - there's some good tennis

But the first two break points, in the first game, were probably the worst though - a bit like Sonay the other day - a real chance at the start to rattle your opponent, before they've settled, make them doubt their tennis that day, and you do really tame faults.

Snigur is one of those annoying players who gets everything back, frustrating Boulter into going for too much or for shots that are not on. Not the kind of player you want to play in this humidity

Katie looks by far the better player, Snigue has a terrible serve and just slaps away at balls like a sadistic prison guard.

Yes, I've always hated the slap

But she takes it early, and re-directs very well - amazing the speed and control she gets on it, given the slappy technique

Snigur is certainly pretty aggressive with that forehand

But miracles do happen - and Katie gets the break

Is that Snigur forehand the ugliest shot in the WTA? Its like a caveman swinging a club.

I would personally say the actual quality hasnt been too bad though. Preferring it to Burrages match on Tuesday, although in both cases Im sure the relative heat makes it tough.

Boulter takes first set 7-5. Who's the commentator who can't pronounce the letter r?
