Week 24 - WTA250 Nottingham, UK - Grass

Katie battling hard to make an impact in this third set - whatever her problems. Gutsy display.

Alizé Cornet not an easy opponent even when you're fully fit.

Ran out of gas but shouldn't have lost that 7th game.

Katie loses 6-4 in the third. Shame.

Good try considering that Katie wasn't firing on all cylinders after the first set.

Cornet has a winning record over the top 10 on grass. She's a v good grass court mover. Nice try from Katie, hope the injury is nothing serious and just too many matches in too short a space of time.

Heat related I think

It did look that way, and though she recovered a bit it was too much to overcome against Cornet who just keeps getting the ball back. It seemed to me that Swan was struggling a bit from the hot conditions at the end of the final in Surbiton. It was a quick turnaround to be competing again so soon at Nottingham.

I thought Katie Swan looked good in the opening set, making very few errors. Start of the 2nd set was awful, all Cornet had to do was wait for the Swan error. A bit better from Katie in the 3rd set but still far too many errors, including the decisive break.

A shame but I had Katie Swan down to lose today, I think it's rather difficult to get fired up again properly so soon after abig week. It's time for the other ones this week

Katie S has had a fantastic previous week. Rest up. Jodie winning ugly is bigger than Jodie coasting in my opinion.

Jodie's match was torture to watch; so many crazy blunders, as well as routine ugly errors and 12 dfs. 3rd set she played some decent tennis in amongst the errors. First set getting returns in play was a struggle. Martincova made more errors in the first set tiebreak then expected given how she'd played up to that stage.

Start of 2nd set was horrendous from Jodie. She seems unable to reset after a horrible error so ended up giving away her serve to love without Tereza having to do anything. Broken to love to concede the set after 4 more errors.

Fought hard to stay in contention in the 3rd set despite numerous shocking errors. The wind seemed to influence the play, leading to some strange rallies. Again Tereza's error count was higher in the tiebreak, Jodie played a couple of decent points.

Jodie's footwork was unbelievably bad.

Is it true she had a rant about having foot faults called repeatedly?
