Also, this tournament last year was Jodies very first win over a top 100 player. I keep forgetting how much her results have improved over the last 12 months.

Jodie's match was torture to watch; so many crazy blunders, as well as routine ugly errors and 12 dfs. 3rd set she played some decent tennis in amongst the errors. First set getting returns in play was a struggle. Martincova made more errors in the first set tiebreak then expected given how she'd played up to that stage.

Start of 2nd set was horrendous from Jodie. She seems unable to reset after a horrible error so ended up giving away her serve to love without Tereza having to do anything. Broken to love to concede the set after 4 more errors.

Fought hard to stay in contention in the 3rd set despite numerous shocking errors. The wind seemed to influence the play, leading to some strange rallies. Again Tereza's error count was higher in the tiebreak, Jodie played a couple of decent points.

Jodie's footwork was unbelievably bad.

Thought her backhand was OK but the forehand was all over the place

Winning ugly is an important skill. Jodie didn't let her opponent get out of sight. Even in the second set she kept trying to get back in contention.

Good to see Jodie digging in. Will be important to know she can win even against a recent top 40 opponent when she isn't playing her best.
