May 2023 British Player of the Month VOTE

Had to go for George in the end; it's great to see him back and playing well. Millie a close second.

After alot of swithering, I went for Jay because he has had a fairly awful long while and it was great to see him get some consecutive wins and the title, even though he is much better - generally speaking - than 25k level.

Thanks BlueBelle

11 votes so far, with the bank holiday weekend, suspect this will be a steady voting process over today and tomorrow.

6 players have votes so far, wide open really .

Nearly went for George and he has probably had the best results. But decided to go for Lloyd for breaking into the world's top 10. Who would have predicted that 2 years ago ?

Surely Jamie Murray and Joe Salisbury should be on the list as well after winning titles today?

Hi Dodrade - maybe , yea. But as mentioned above the nominations are down to anyone on the board to nominate and put a name up there, not myself or anyone else controlling it- you might be right re Jamie and Joe, but you should have nominated them if you felt they were worthy.

as mentioned in my response to Danny, each month we have a nominations thread, anyone can add a player at any time during the month, with a reason, and then at month end I run a vote. Going forward, please do look out for the nominations thread - June will go up on May 30th - and please do add names you feel deserve a nomination during the month.

for now, please do vote in this months vote!

Swithering is a good word! feels like Enid Blyton used that in her books!

Also worth noting, winning a title doesnt get you on the list - it often does, but not always for lots of reasons. Mainly down to someone feeling the player deserves to be nominated having won the title. I guess Joe has won lots of 250 events and as a former slam winner, just last year, perhaps no one saw it as passing the hurdle? Jamie I actually did think of nominating myself but decided to leave it for someone else and non came forwards!

Yes, just to back up Jon:

The beauty of these polls are that they are 100% democratic

Any forum member can nominate any name they want - as long as it's British - just copy and paste the others into a new message and add your one on the bottom

There are no rules about what counts as worthy or not - it covers all levels and any aspect of tennis

There's basically no limit on the number of nominations - the more the merrier

And, then, any forum member can vote for any nomination (and it's private, unless you decide to say)

Same, but only because I was assuming Andy would be a shoo-in. After voting and seeing he isn't I would have preferred to vote for him.

Ah ha - thats why the polls are done blind , I guess so the current standings dont sway your vote. We have 15 votes now, still a very slow day in paradise it seems

George for me.
Anyone who didn't nominate remember you can and the write up is your pitch to sway those of us that may not follow the player/tour etc and so have no idea what they have achieved and how it relates to other tours/players
