Whats happened to Luca Pow?

You mean why isn't he in any of the challengers? Yes, I was wondering the same....

Such a lack of standout GB men WC candidates that there could be great opportunities beckoning for anyone that can produce the goods on grass in the next week or two.

My fear is that they bascially won't give any (which might be fair, I realise, but....)

We'll have the three in the MD as of right. And then a wildcard for Liam and Ryan P. (Possibly Jan). And that'll be it.

There was no one really from Surbiton who staked a big claim - maybe Arthur? As a token youngster

Very unrelated; but can you still turn up at queens club for qualifying to watch, is it the first 500 people or so?

Unfortunately it seems to be the same as last year, no public access to qualifying. havent been able to go to qualifying there now since 2019. I assume maybe its queens club members only.

https://www.lta.org.uk/fan-zone/international/cinch-championships/event-guide/on-the-day/

There will be no public access for Qualifying Weekend on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June inclusive.

The LTA play-offs for Wimbledon (pre-qualifying) is also closed to spectators.  However, last year, I had no trouble getting in by simply asking players if they would sign me in as a guest.  Surely the same trick would work at Queens Club qualifying level.   I think it's unlikely they would say no.

George Loffhagens WC into Nottingham suggests to me that he is under consideration. Hope he can make it count as he would be a player I'd make an effort to watch at Wimbledon.

 That would be nice.

And they've certainly got a bit of flexibility this year - as unfortunately they're aren't too many deserving cases for MD wildcards (far more tricky for the qualis ones). So they could justify a couple of 'ringers'. Slightly strange that George didn't play Surbiton. Would have thought he'd want the most practice on grass, and the most opportunity to showcase his level on it. But all good....

With Arthur's announcement of going pro, I think his chance has gone up too.

Its probably in one of the threads, but does anyone know when we get sense of the field for the wild card play offs? Presumably quite late in the day?

I guess where we are we will have up to 6 wildcards , with Andy winning surbiton. And presumably Lopez will get one? In his last year? Or is Monfils also up for one? This weeks winner and Ilkley to come.

So lets say 5 available?

Liam - tick
Ryan - tick
Jan - must be a tick now.

No one else is ranked high enough to get one without doing good stuff on the grass - George has put his hand up now and Arthur is raising a finger .

No one else yet has made the case - George can consolidate this week with a good show against Koepfer; Ilkley next week is the place for Arthur and others to make their case .

I notice that some of the players like Anton, JPJ, Aidan etc that might be possibles for qualifying wild cards are playing itf events overseas this week. They arent getting grass practice - I wonder if the LTA should be putting on an M25 event alongside say this weeks tournies, on grass, to cater for some of those players who dont get into challenger events at this time of year on the grass, but want to play qualies and still try and get ranking points? As opposed to having grass itf events post Wimbledon ?

Id forgotten about those - Nishikori is playing a event this week but it is early days in his comeback; Goffin of course was a quarter finalist last season if I recall; Raonic is a former finalist of course, plus grass pedigree, and maybe the best shout compared to those and Lopez.

id forgotten Kyle, but presume he is injured again?

Raonic doesn't need a WC, he is using his PR for Queens and Wimbledon.
