Swan so close to winning that. Very gutsy performance, having to follow serve in the final set. Repeatedly held serve under pressure, to take it to a tie break. Then from 4-2 down took it to 7-7, saving a couple of match points. No shame in losing when it's that close.

Poor Heather. Her game is just not there it seems. You can't bet on her to beat anyone it seems right now. Is it time for her to switch to doubles where she might do really well like she has in the past.

Heather should play more doubles. She and Gabueva beat Em and Kempen 6-4 6-3 - lots of deuce games, and they won the majority.

Best wishes to Em's dad, who is starting a 30 week course of chemo, battling cancer for the 5th time.

An unfortunate draw as well, would probably have beaten Heather's opponent.

Not had the easiest opponents this clay season. Then again, perhaps that's the kind of matchup [against Paolini] where valuable experience is gained, ie. playing someone who is adept on the clay, and being in the contest right until the end.

Paolini progressed through all the rounds, and then in the final beat Taylor Townsend 6-3 7-5. She also figured in the doubles semifinal too.

Swan gave Paolini probably her toughest test, in this tournament.
