Week 18 - ITF W80 - Gifu, Japan Hard

That is an impressive win ! Katie moves above Harriet in live rankings to close the gap slightly in the chase for Jodie and GB #1

Next week is not particularly strong either. Good opportunity to pick up more points.

Katie has always been better on faster courts and streaky - she has the ability to be much higher than she is and the personality and profile to be a good number one for GB if she can get there - Id like to see her do it, shes always been one of my favourite British women players

If Katie wins tomorrow, this would be her biggest title yet.

Also KB needs the ranking points, and I dont mind if she vultures them at a weak tournament - she has the game to play with top players, so a ranking rise doesnt feel inflated

Agreed. She does have 3rd round Wimbledon points which she should have technically too.

Get some wins, rankings points and confidence going into the grass season.

Is she does to play Roland Garros?

Agree with all this. I'm just happy to see her (and Harriet) playing matches, gaining confidence.

If she did have those Wimbledon points, she'd be GB #1 in the live rankings right now.

If Katie can win tomorrow, then make finals in the next two 60ks (big ask I know), she would be on the very cusp of top 100...

Katy lost the first set 5 -7. She broke in first game but was broken back immediately from then on she was always one behind.

No stream at all.

Higher first serve percentage in second set so far. Need to go back to sleep though.

F: BOULTER, Katie (GBR) (2) 154 (CH=82 2019) LOST TO SAKATSUME, Himeno (JPN) (7) 219 (CH=216 2023) 5-7 3-6

Leapfrogs Harriet for 1 week due to the weeks lag for 25k points. Harriet back in front the following week when her points for this week go on. Both on the cusp of being seeded for FO qualifying.
