Lauryn beats Ella and gets more points. Ella seems to be able to play doubles just fine but has a problem with singles.
Seems a much more of a problem in singles this year compared to last. Her singles was still coming on quite encouragingly last year. So as CD says, why?

I think it's more about the transition of her style of play from juniors, no? Even last year, among the promising performances, there was a few instances where she was squashed quite handily (i.e. on the grass where a 0-6 0-6 loss to Zacarias was followed up by very nearly beating Vandeweghe). It's always struck me that her style of play puts quite a bit in the hands over her (usually) more powerful opponents.
Harriet versus Ranah is an interesting match up - youd expect it to be very one sided, will it be?
Eliz lost to Ryser 3 years back in straight sets.
Has Lauryn J-B played Malygina at all in the UKPL events that anyone knows of? Theyve not played in 2023, that is for certain, but maybe came into combat sometime last year?
I've a lot of respect for Harriet dropping down to this level but let's be honest if she doesn't win the tournament she should probably pack her suitcase and take off somewhere warm and sunny and get herself rested mentally for the French Open qualifiers and the following grass court season.

Lauryn lost to Malygina 1 & 1 in the SF of finals week last year.
I've always liked Lauryn's quirky game - slightly like Ranah in that you get such a mixture, and all delivered in a rather languid style, so just when you think it's just a bit chippy, she suddenly unleashes - great mix-up
