RE: Week 18 - WTA125 - Saint Malo, France Clay

Jodie will need to reach the QF to be the new British #1, and she will need to reach the final to continue our 15 year run (since 19 May 2008) of having a woman in the top 100. There's a very small chance reaching the SF might be enough if other results go her way.

just the Central court at St. Malo being streamed atm :

https://lopen-saintmalo.fr/matchs-en-direct/

Jodie's match 2nd up on court No.1. and Katie vs. Freya 2nd up on court No.2, so maybe neither streamed live? instead Youtube?

Note : Court No.1 on the streaming site is the WTA Reus tournament, not Court 1 at St. Malo.

They met in Pretoria in 2022 with Carole winning in three.

Nice for Freya to get the LL spot smile

Monnet is a real defensive player - very clay court. Hope Jodie wallops the ball right past her biggrin

Ok, I'm backtracking from Jodie walloping the ball - let's get back to basics and try getting it over the net, and then into the court

A far better set from Jodie, who takes the second 6-2

Meanwhile, Freya has snuck the second set against Katie Swan and they're now into a third as well

Jodie missed a break point in the first game of the third and has gone on a bit of a wander

*0-3

Freya *2-1

Brilliant

Two wins

Great clutch win for Jodie over someone whose whole ethos is to be hard to beat

And lucky loser, Freya

Well done Miss Burrage. Rewarded in the end for being the one trying to make things happen.

No disrespect to Freya - I'm delighted she has made the most of her lucky loser spot - but I can't help feeling it's a bit worrying that Katie lost this match and I wonder if she's still having problems with her shoulder?
