She didn't seem very happy with the umpire at the end. In the Sewing last service game she disputed which ball mark the umpire was checking and seemed to be in discussion with him about it at the end of the match.

The good news is she didn't let it ruin her concentration in the tiebreak! Well done Fran.

You're welcome. It's great when it results in a win...

Sofia had had a dispute with the Umpire about a whether a mark indicated the ball was in or out only a few games before Fran's discussion with the Umpire.

The match started with Fran in a very dominant mood winning the first five games only to see Sofia win two in a row. Fran broke to take the first set but then struggled all the way through the 2nd set and lost her service at the start of the third set. From then on it just swinging back and forth as one got an advantage only to see the other take the lead. Both had multiple chances and either could have won.

Looks like the SF has banana skin potential - 18 years old with JCH of 7 and at her senior CH, plus Argentinian on clay. Hope Fran can come through and make the final.

She might not shake hands with anybody.

SF: JONES, Francesca (GBR) (8) 386 lost to SIERRA, Solana (ARG) (4) 351 W.O.

That is the end of Fran's South American season. She is accepted to play in Cyprus next week, if she recovers in time from whatever the problem was.
