Week 17 - ITF W40+H - Calvi, France Hard

Not a very friendly hand-shake at the end. Harriet didn't look best pleased.

There's no reason two Brits have to get on
Harriet will be furious to have lost

I only saw the last game and there were some dubious line calls. They are team-mates and regular doubles partners.

Another pair doing very well

I also have always thought that Naiktha looks SO much happier playing doubles.

I've seen her live, several times, in doubles and singles, and she can really be quite glum in singles, it's all an effort - but she cheers up no end playing doubles

Maia is also far more suited to doubles - her skillset is more dubs based. So it's great they're doing well.

Would be nice, LTA, to give out some nice Wimbly doubles wildcards this year

They gave out 6 doubles WC's last year, and this was one
Naiktha Bains (GBR) / Maia Lumsden (GBR) CR669 (241+428) [WC]

Sam Murray got in directly with Vivian Heisan and a CR of 168
Lissey and Liv needed a WC at CR217

I want one for Naiktha & Maia

And Freya & Ali

And Emily App and whoever she wants to play with

And Eden and X

In fact, I want ALL our doubles wildcards to go any and every possible GB pairing

And that is what happened last year - all six were to GB pairs
All five in 2021
All four in 2019
Only two and a half in 2018 (Naomi and Asia= 1/2)

Looks like GB doubles is on the up with increasing numbers worthy !

Harriet not always gracious in defeat and has had a pretty poor year so far.

Naiktha and Maia have taken the first set against the Number 1 seeds in the final.
