Kyle putting up a decent effort here. The Swiss lad only started playing half way through the set and Kyle cannot get much off his first serve.

Kyle lost the tie break and then play stopped due to bad light.

Having the match carried over might work in Kyle's favour. Fresh legs tomorrow. Let's hope so anyway.

Two many forehand errors but some nice play in that first set. Looks to be improving anyway - all we can hope for at the moment. His opponent has a very solid game, backs up his serve well.

Fresh legs doing the trick so far as Kyle takes the 2nd set.

Decent showing from Kyle but losing in rd1 doesn't get a run going. I understand these players can use a protected ranking for so many bigger events to get entry but would Kyle not have been better playing the Nottingham M25 event. He just might have gone the whole way and won the thing. That's a run of winning matches then which Kyle needs surely in order to work his way back up. I would rather see him benefiting that way than lose rd1 in a number of big events and not get the play and winning feel that can help to lift a player back up.

Money talks - he has earned over 100k using PR and is yet to win a match.

When do we start calling him the new Robert Dee

He also has a limited time to use up the PR entries I believe. I guess also the other way of looking at it is his ranking would increase faster by even just getting a few wins at this sort of level. I'd imagine we will see him getting some grass WCs as well.

He's not unique. Dudi Sela literally played four matches in 2022 in ITF/ATP level, all GS qualifiers using PR and unsurprisingly lost all four but managed to earn $68k!

I agree though Kyle would likely have a better chance of winning matches he enters using his PR if he actually got a bit of steam up by winning a few matches in lower level tournaments.
